This policy explains how Blue Giraffe Limited collects and uses personal data when you visit this website or contact us, whether you are a company looking to hire or a person looking for work.
Who we are
Blue Giraffe Limited (“Blue Giraffe”, “we”, “us”) is the controller of your personal data. We are registered in Malta under company registration number C 117515. You can reach us about anything in this policy at info@bluegiraffe.com.
What we collect
- When you email us: your name, your email address and whatever you choose to include in your message and attachments.
- If you are looking for work: your CV and the information in it, such as your work history, education, skills and languages, the roles, salary and working arrangements you are interested in, and notes from our conversations with you.
- If you are hiring: the names, job titles and contact details of the people we deal with at your organisation, and the details of the roles you want to fill.
- When you visit this website: our hosting provider records technical information in server logs, such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and working. The website itself uses no cookies, analytics or tracking for visitors; see our cookie policy.
Please do not send us sensitive information, such as details of your health, religion, ethnic origin or political opinions, unless a role specifically requires it and we have asked for it.
How we use your data, and why
- To answer your enquiry, because we have a legitimate interest in responding to you, or because you have asked us to take steps before entering into a contract.
- To find suitable roles for candidates and introduce them to employers, as steps you have asked us to take before a contract. We will always ask for your agreement before we send your CV or details to a prospective employer.
- To provide staffing services to our clients and manage our relationship with them, to perform our contract with them and in our legitimate interest in running our business.
- To meet our legal obligations, for example accounting, tax and employment records.
- To keep this website secure, in our legitimate interest in protecting it.
We do not sell personal data, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not make decisions about you by automated means alone.
Who we share it with
- Prospective employers, only for the roles you have agreed to be put forward for.
- Service providers who act on our behalf, such as our website hosting, email and IT providers, and our professional advisers.
- Public authorities, where the law requires us to.
Some of our service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. When they do, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place, such as a European Commission adequacy decision or the Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that do not lead to further contact: up to 12 months.
- Candidate records, including CVs: up to two years after our last contact with you, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Client and placement records: for as long as we work together, and afterwards for as long as the law requires, for example for accounting and tax purposes.
- Server logs: for a limited period set by our hosting provider, for security purposes.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation you have the right to ask for a copy of your personal data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on your consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To use any of these rights, email us at info@bluegiraffe.com. We will reply within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we handle your data, you can complain to the Information and Data Protection Commissioner in Malta (idpc.org.mt) or to the data protection authority in the country where you live or work. We would appreciate the chance to put things right first.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
